Top comment 'Yea, it was fast.Good USB C Cable. Perfect for connecting Mac computers. This cable can pretty much do anything for you from transmitting a 5K video signal (which I tried with my RTX2080 to my gaming monitor and it worked beautifully), to transferring a ton data quickly as I just did pulling data from my desktop to my new laptop, and it can even deliver up to 100W of power. Modifying a Mac mini to run on DC power isn’t a strange concept. There are plenty of well-documented conversions performed to power the Mac from a car or boat battery. One reason this is such a popular mod is because the Mac mini operates natively on 12 VDC, making it a perfect match for car batteries, and more importantly, the DC power. 1-16 of over 2,000 results for 'mac mini firewire cable' Pasow FireWire 1394b 800 IEEE 9 Pin to 9 Pin Male to Male Cable for Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac PC,Digital Cameras, SLR (9 pin to 9 pin) 4.7 out of 5 stars 358. Don't love the placement of the headphone/mic socket way in the back. Anyone got a link to a solid extension cable that I can leave in all the time so I don't have to do the constant reach around? Kinda annoying w/ USB plugs nearly blocking it.

What is a Mac mini and what does it do?

The Mac mini is a small desktop computer made by Apple. What makes the Mac mini different from a regular computer is that it’s shipped without an accompanying screen, keyboard or mouse. As Apple likes to say, it’s “BYODKM” (Bring Your Own Display, Keyboard, and Mouse).

The reason behind the Mac mini being shipped solo, is because most of its use cases feature around using it to power up another device, as we’ll discuss in more detail below.

It also makes for more of a flexible purchase. For example, if you already have a screen, or a keyboard and mouse, you can pair these with the Mac mini rather than forking out for new ones. And if you don’t, you can easily purchase them alongside the Mac mini anyway.

The Mac mini has been around since 2005 (launched at the same time as the iPod shuffle) but its design and functionality have changed since then.

The latest 3.6 GHz Mac mini released in 2018 comes in two types of processing speed, the 3.6 GHz Mac mini Core i3 costing about $799 and the 3.0 GHz Mac mini Core i5 costing about $1099.
